Soon… Very soon.

SOMETHING BIG IS COMING...

You have seen how a man was made a slave

You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man.

When I found I had crossed that line…

When I found I had crossed that line, [on her first escape from slavery, 1845] I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such a glory over everything.

Zac Posen Slammed for Using Mostly Black Models — Even Though His Collection Was Inspired by a Black Princess | Black Girl with Long Hair

Posen made this statement to Harper’s Bazaar:

Since the inspiration was Elizabeth of Toro it made sense to have a casting reflecting this. Their presence and the diversity of the casting complemented the collection and made it more striking. … We live in a diverse world and it is essential it is represented in the fashion industry—it has always been critical to me, as well as a key component of my collections—whether it’s shapes, sizes or skin color—as my customers are global and part of all diverse groups.

Just Begin.

15339-just-begin

Change.  Change is hard and scary.  Change invokes the doubt, the fear, the internal “nay saying”. However, Change is the beacon of hope.  Change represents a chance to do better, to be better, to feel better. Change is inevitable. So take a deep breath, meditate, close your eyes… see the “better” and then, slowly… JUST BEGIN!

We should emphasize not Negro History, but the Negro in History.

We should emphasize not Negro History, but the Negro in history. What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hate, and religious prejudice. Carter Woodson (1875-1950) on founding Negro History Week, 1926 >>> http://ow.ly/XOIc5

My father was a slave and my people died

My father was a slave and my people died to build this country, and I’m going to stay right here and have a part of it, just like you. And no fascist-minded people like you will drive me from it. Is that clear?

I felt that one had better die fighting

I felt that one had better die fighting against injustice than to die like a dog or rat in a trap. I had already determined to sell my life as dearly as possible if attacked. I felt if I could take one lyncher with me, this would even up the score a little bit.

#LOVEYOSELF

The recurring theme for 2016 has been “love yourself”. It’s two very simple words and yet the majority of us lack the skill-set needed to complete the task. LOVE YOURSELF.  Love is not only a noun. LOVE IS A VERB. IT IS AN ACTION. As a verb it can be defined as: like very much; find pleasure in.  That the task before us. We need to learn and perpetuate the action of liking ourselves and finding pleasure in our own company. It is by far the most powerful thing we can ever do for our souls.  It is by far the kindness action we can take to heal. Yet, life hardens us to the point that we forget this simple task. This year, put it on your to-do-list, create the habit, indulge… #LOVEYOSELF.

It’s simple: Begin Again

Often time in life, we get the distinct Blessing to “start over”.  A “do over”. These are often preceded by times of uncertainty. Periods where we are forced to grow, because we have to “let go”. Yet, with every ending… ultimately there is a new beginning.

Just “BEGIN AGAIN”.
It’s that simple.

During my travels on the internet whilst trying to avoid doing yet another
pivot table and some “if-then” statements. I came across the Design
Inspiration post from Apartment Therapy:

I was immediately enchanted with the images because they reflected the most
beautiful light. There was the air of “calm and serene”. Since my blog
partner @Chicagomom72 has introduced me to Apartment Therapy, I have noted
some very wonderful design inspirations that I could use in my home. This
however has really struck a tone with me as I want to create an area where
it is flooded with light, yet aesthetically pleasing to the eye!

Do check out the aforementioned post and then tell us what design
inspiration that you like!
